The Atlantic Players are an authentic 9-piece soul band from Moseley, Birmingham. Heavily influenced by the great Atlantic and Stax records 60’s soul sound and the soul revival spearheaded by Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings and Daptone Records, they deliver soul guaranteed to get you on the dance floor!
The Atlantic Players are regular features in Birmingham’s best live music venues and have been fortunate enough to have shared the stage with the likes of Steve Cropper, Booker T, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas and The James Hunter Six in recent years. 2016 saw the release of their debut single ‘Drowning on Dry Land’, now available on limited edition 45 from Rotunda Records.
The Atlantic Players are: Hugh ‘Junior’ Blackwood and Patsy Fuller on vocals, Keith Owen on guitar, Red on bass, Mick Laffoley on drums, Hugh ‘Number 9’ Graham on percussion, Andy Vine on piano and organ, Kate O’Malley on alto/tenor saxophone and flute, and Steve ‘Pretty Boy’ Bates on trumpet.
