Hapa Zome (which means Leaf-Dye in Japanese) is the art of beating leaves and flowers into cloth with a rubber hammer. It was devised by designer and artist India Flint, author of Eco colour, who suggested that people may have been extracting plant colours this way for centuries. The effects are really beautiful and the possibilities are endless, this may be the kind of workshop that’s hard to leave. Join Maria to create what often seems like little plant spirits etched in the cloth as the plant releases it’s pigments and leaves it’s form. She will be wildcrafting and honoring our local plant life respectfully.
